EL088 - UV FLEXO PEEL and READ VARNISH
EL165 UV FLEXO LINERLESS RELEASE VARNISH
EL088 - UV FLEXO PEEL and READ VARNISH
DESCRIPTION
Mid viscosity semi-gloss varnish with excellent release properties for ‘peel and read’ applications.
PROPERTIES
Excellent release. Good chemical and product resistance. Mid viscosity. Good adhesion. Not suitable for foil blocking / thermal transfer. Unless the printed layer is a barrier to migration and there is no possibility of set off to the unprinted (food contact) surface, EL088, nor HD200, are not intended for food packaging specifications. For applications where the material is not a barrier, or set off is possible, we recommend the use of Low Migration inks & varnishes. Contact us for further details. It must also be mentioned that the Printer/Converter and Packer/ Filler has legal responsibility to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation for food packaging.
APPLICATION
Stir / shake very well before use. Film weight: 6 volume anilox minimum. Rollers EPDM. UV Lamps: minimum 120 w/cm. Print speeds up to 80 m/min
Good results have been seen with non-absorbant substrates such as coated polypropylene. However, in order to get full release on paper or board substrates, a primer may be needed. Pulse can offer HD200 UV flexo primer. Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, primer film weights of 6-20 volume are needed, with higher film weights needed for the more absorbent substrates. Trialling is essential.
NB - The most critical aspect to get smooth, consistent and repeatable release for all these products is the evenness and smoothness of application. It has been shown that increasing film weight of release varnishes rather than making the existing film weight smoother actually makes the release worse. After ageing, the release label may fail. This is true also for the application of any primer needed.
SUBSTRATES
Coated paper and board. Treated/primed polyethylene, polypropylene. Other substrates may be suitable on testing.
STORAGE & HANDLING
Store at temperatures between 50C and 250C. Protect from sunlight. In unopened containers EL088 has a shelf life of 12 months.

EL165 UV FLEXO LINERLESS RELEASE VARNISH
DESCRIPTION
Mid viscosity semi-gloss varnish giving release for high speed linerless applications.
PROPERTIES
Excellent ease of release, with minimal noise. Fast cure for high speed applications. Good chemical and product resistance. Mid viscosity. Good adhesion. Not suitable for foil blocking / thermal transfer. Unless the printed layer is a barrier to migration and there is no possibility of set off to the unprinted (food contact) surface, EL165, nor HD200 or RS000, are not intended for food packaging specifications. APPLICATION
Stir / shake very well before use. This product can be either flexo or screen applied.
Flexo: Film weight 6 volume minimum. Rollers EPDM.
Screen: Flat 120T - 140T, Gallus: KM - KF, Stork 315/15% - 305/13%. UV Lamps: minimum 120 w/cm. Print speeds up to 80 m/min.
