APPLICATION

EL102 - UV CATIONIC RELEASE VARNISH
DESCRIPTION
EL102 is a low viscosity, high gloss release varnish designed for use in the production of peel and reseal type labels. It provides good release properties with most types of pressure sensitive adhesives.
PROPERTIES
Excellent release properties. High gloss. Good chemical and product resistance. Low viscosity. Good adhesion. Not suitable for foil blocking/thermal transfer
APPLICATION
Film weight 4-6 g/cm3, Rollers EPDM, UV lamps minimum 80 w/cm
SUBSTRATES
Treated/primed polyethylene, Treated/primed polypropylene, Polyester, Polystyrene, Some Papers, Filmic substrates should be free from plasticisers or other chemicals that could migrate and affect adhesion properties of the release varnish. Papers should have good holdout properties and papers of an alkaline nature should be avoided, as this will impair the curing of the varnish.
GUIDELINES FOR USE
If stored in a cool dark place, in clean sealed containers, this mixture will be stable for up to 10 weeks.
Care should be taken to ensure that printing equipment is completely clean of any residue or potential contaminant. Contamination with moisture or alkaline compounds will
hinder or poison the curing reaction. Contaminated material should be discarded.
Exposure to strong acids, heat or sunlight will cause gellation of the product.
For best results an anilox roller system should be used which can give a coated film weight of 4-6 g/m2.
Performance of EL102 should be checked thoroughly when applying over printed material to ensure compatibility with inks/coatings used.
Curing can be achieved with medium pressure mercury vapour lamps. LDS015/03 08.05.2003
STORAGE & HANDLING
EL102 should be stored at temperatures between 150C and 250C. In unopened containers EL102 has a shelf life of 3 months. Good industrial hygiene should be followed with all UV materials, refer to H&S data sheet for full information.

DESCRIPTION
UV flexo ink for labels and packaging, which when irradiated by light, gives off a yellowish green glow (520nm) and afterglow when the light source is removed.

UV SCRATCH ‘n' SNIFF VARNISHES
DESCRIPTION
A range of UV curing Scratch ‘n' Sniff inks, which scratched release an odour.
PROPERTIES
Good cure speed, Good adhesion, Available in UV flexo, screen, or letterpress inks or varnishes.
GUIDELINES FOR USE
The recommendation is for the microencapsulated capsules of the required smell to be used in the final varnish layer. If scratch ‘n' sniff inks are required, then it is not recommended to overprint or varnish the final layer.
Inks & Varnishes: The inks are supplied ready for use. Shake or mix well before use. The inks can be thinned with up to 3% of UV thinner.
Screens: For optimum effect the following screens are recommended, although other screen mesh sizes between 100T and 160T will work.
Flatbed 140T, Rotary Gallus KS, Rotary Stork 305/15, Flexo: For optimum effect the following screens are recommended: -
